Hi, I was going to buy portacots with bassinet features for our parents so that baby has a place to sleep when spending time there. We live locally so it would not be for long term sleeping. I understand that all portacots sold in Australia must meet the relevant safety requirements but saw that Choice cannot recommend any due to failure to comply with voluntary requirements. I would rather get them something else if this would be safer but short of a permanent cot I'm not sure what other options would be OK. Do you have any advice? Thanks

Red Nose

Hi Rachael,

All portacots sold in Australia must meet Mandatory Standards from Product Safety Australia.

Product Safety develop the safety standards for cots & portacots.

The specific safety information can be accessed form their web site.

Always follow the guidelines, particularly in relation to weight (of baby) recommendations & use of mattress in portable cots.
