Hi Nicole,

Thank you for contacting Red Nose with your question

Hi, was just wondering if its safe to elevate a 9 months old head who is suffering from a chest infection. he seems to sleep better with his bed head raised slightly.

Red Nose does not recommend elevating the head of baby’s cot for sleep. This may be particularly risky if a soft pillow is used.
Often babies will slip down under any covers if head of the cot is elevated.
Red Nose has the following information, specifically related to reflux, that is relevant to any reason for elevating cot.

If a baby is in an elevated cot, further hazards may be introduced into the sleeping environment.
When elevated, babies are more likely to slip down the cot and become completely covered by bedding, or if a pillow is used to elevate the baby pillows become a suffocation hazard .
