Supporting grieving grandparents after the loss of a precious baby or child.
Grieving the loss of a grandchild comes with a unique kind of heartbreak — one that often carries the heavy burden of watching your own child experience unimaginable pain, while also coping with your own sorrow.
Our Melbourne In-Person Grandparents Support Group offers a safe, understanding space for grandparents to come together, share their experiences, and support one another. Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, you are warmly welcome to join.
Facilitated by Red Nose Grief Counsellor Julie Klocklow and long-time Grandparent Supporter Marilyn Ryan, these sessions provide comfort, connection, and an opportunity to acknowledge your grief in a caring environment. Marilyn has been supporting this group for over 16 years, after the tragic loss of her granddaughter Amy in 2004 — an experience that continues to shape her compassionate support for others.
It became my lifeline. And over the years, I was able to help facilitate the group. It is a wonderful way to honour Amy.
These free gatherings offer a gentle space to connect, reflect, and begin to heal — together. There’s no pressure to share—simply come along, listen, and be part of a compassionate community that truly gets it.
These sessions are free, but registration is essential.
