Ways to be Ok: Cultural Perspectives on Grief

Red Nose Parent Forum

Grief is not experienced in a single way. It is shaped by culture, traditions, beliefs, family, and community — and these influences can play a powerful role in how parents grieve, honour, and remember their baby or child.

This month’s Red Nose Parent Forum, Culture, Grief and Loss, offers a respectful and welcoming space for parents to reflect on and share how their cultural background has influenced their grief journey.

Together, we will explore:

  • The role of culture, tradition, and spirituality in grief and remembrance
  • Rituals, practices, and customs that help honour a baby or child
  • How cultural expectations can support, challenge, or shape the grieving experience

All beliefs, traditions, and perspectives are welcomed with openness, care, and respect. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and no expectation to share unless you wish to.

This forum is facilitated by Red Nose and is open to parents who have experienced the death of a baby or child. We warmly invite you to join us in a space of listening, learning, and connection.

Your story, your culture, and your way of grieving are welcome here.
