Join us to gather in remembrance of the ones we have lost and acknowledge their lives.
Every year in March, we come together to say the names of the treasured babies and children we have loved and lost, to honour their memory and acknowledge the profound impact of their lives.
Say Their Name Day is a time for families, friends and the wider community to gather in remembrance, compassion and connection. Saying a baby or child’s name alongside those who loved them is a powerful act of kindness, one that acknowledges their life, their love, and their lasting place in our hearts.
This year, Red Nose Australia invites you to join us at one of our Say Their Name Day Remembrance Services being held across Australia throughout March 2026.
Say Their Name Day 2026 Symbol – The Blue Wren
In 2026, we honour babies and children lost with the symbol of the Blue Wren.
Birds are often seen as messengers between the physical and spiritual worlds. The blue wren, with its soft song and bright presence, represents comfort, intuition and the continuity of love beyond physical life. It reminds us that even in quiet moments, the memory of our children continues to sing in our hearts.
Why We Say Their Name
When a baby or child dies, life as it was known changes forever.
This pain cannot be fixed, only carried. What makes it lighter is a simple acknowledgement. Saying a child’s name alongside those who love them creates space for grief, memory and healing.
- Affirms that every baby and child matters
- Helps break the silence around pregnancy loss, stillbirth and child loss
- Encourages families to seek support without stigma
- Raises vital funds so Red Nose can continue to provide grief support for as long as families need it
We respectfully acknowledge that some cultures do not speak the names of those who have passed. Red Nose Australia honours these traditions and will always support what feels right for you and your family.
