Supporting dads through the heartbreak and devastation of the death of their baby or child

Fathers of Loss is proudly supported by Sydney2CAMberra and is made especially for dads.

We recognise that fathers grieve deeply after the loss of a baby or child. Often, their pain is overlooked as they support their partners and families. Our Fathers of Loss program is dedicated to providing resources and a community where dads can find understanding and support.

What is Fathers of Loss?

Fathers of Loss is a support initiative featuring a series of short videos where bereaved fathers share their personal experiences. These stories cover various aspects of grief, including:

  • The initial impact of loss

  • Emotional challenges faced

  • Interactions with family and friends

  • Coping mechanisms and rituals

  • Advice for other grieving dads

Notable participants include Adelaide Crows captain Rory Sloane, musician Paul Field, and Red Nose Chairman Craig Heatley, among others.

Why Was This Created?

Statistics show that only about 20% of those seeking grief counseling are men. This resource aims to bridge that gap by providing relatable content that encourages fathers to acknowledge and express their grief.

Who Is It For?

This series is for any dad who has experienced the loss of a baby or child, regardless of the circumstances or how much time has passed. It’s also valuable for friends and family members seeking to understand and support grieving fathers.

Watch the Video Series and Meet our Dads

We are so grateful to the dads who shared their stories and experiences with us. Each brave dad talks honesty about their loss, how the tragedy made them feel, and the things they wish they had known.
