Colacs Charity Ball Raises $17,000

A Red Nose Charity Gala Ball held at Colac RSL on 17 June has raised more than $17,000 for Red Nose.

Colac resident Lynette Robertson organised the event to give back to Red Nose, which supported her over a decade ago after the death of her fourth child, Abbey, during her 25th week of pregnancy.

Lynette volunteers for Red Nose as a Parent Supporter, a role in which bereaved parents use their experience to provide support to other bereaved parents and family members.

The Charity Gala Ball raised funds through activities including raffles and auctions.

Thank you to Lynette and to all of the local community and many volunteers who supported the event.

Vikings Charity Of The Year Ball Raises $30,000

More than 200 generous Canberrans attended the Vikings Charity of the Year Dollar Ball on Saturday 27 May, raising over $30,000 for Red Nose.

This amount contributes to Vikings’ Charity of the Year $80,000 fundraising goal.

Of the one of many initiatives run by Vikings Group as part of the Charity of the Year program, the Dollar Ball has been the biggest.

Vikings CEO Anthony Hill thanked the Canberra community for their contribution to the Vikings Red Nose Dollar Ball.

“We want to thank the generous Canberra community for their contribution to the Vikings Red Nose Dollar Ball,” he said. “It was a successful night with over $30,000 raised for our Charity of the Year, Red Nose. All the funds raised will directly support bereaved Canberra families.”

The money raised will help Red Nose continue its purpose of saving the lives of babies and children and supporting people impacted by the death of a child by providing education and support services to families in the Canberra region.

Lisa Ridgley, Red Nose Community Fundraising Manager for ACT and NSW, said she was pleased to see such positive results from the partnership with Vikings through its Charity of the Year Program.

“The money raised from the Vikings Red Nose Dollar Ball will help us immensely, so we can continue to support local families,” Lisa said. “We are so grateful for the Vikings Group’s support.”

Bets are still on for Anthony’s pledge to work behind the bar at four of the Vikings venues if $8,000 is raised for Red Nose Day. If successful, locals will catch him serving beers at each bar for an hour on 30 June, Red Nose Day.
