Red Nose Australia has launched its signature fitness challenge ‘Red, Set, Go’, encouraging Aussies to walk or run 3km a day throughout August to raise funds to save little lives.
For 38 years, Red Nose Day has united Australians in helping reduce the rate of sudden and unexpected infant deaths. Every day in Australia, six babies are stillborn, and two die within the first 28 days of life. Through the generosity of the community, Red Nose has helped drive an 80% reduction in SIDS, invested more than $20 million in lifesaving research, and provided essential support to thousands of bereaved families.
Despite this progress, the need remains urgent. That’s why Red Nose is asking Australians to Red, Set, Go by walking, running or rolling at least 3km a day in August, honouring the 3,000 little lives lost suddenly and unexpectedly each year. An estimated one in four pregnancies also ends in miscarriage.
Red Nose Australia CEO Amy Cooper said taking on the ‘Red, Set, Go’ challenge is a powerful opportunity for Australians to come together and create meaningful change.
“Taking on the ‘Red, Set, Go’ challenge is a way for Australians to help fund vital research and education to prevent little lives from being lost, as well as support grieving families,” Ms Cooper said.
“Every kilometre clocked up and every dollar raised helps Red Nose to support families experiencing pregnancy loss, stillbirth or the death of a baby or child. These vital funds also serve to advance the research and education needed to save little lives.”
“This is a fitness challenge that can be taken on by everyday Australians – we welcome the participation of all ages and abilities. This is a great opportunity to get active and make a difference.”
