Your experience could help another family feel less alone
We’re looking for compassionate volunteers to join the Red Nose Bereavement Support Line, and bereaved dads who are ready to offer one-to-one support to other fathers navigating loss.
Find the role that feels right for you
Peer Supporter — Bereavement Support Line
Provide phone support to bereaved parents and families. Offer connection, understanding and gentle presence during some of life’s most difficult moments.
You may be suited if you:
- Have lived experience of pregnancy, baby, or child loss
- Are more than 12 months beyond your loss and feel emotionally ready to support others
Dad-to-Dad Support Volunteer

You may be suited if you:
- Are a bereaved father, at least 12 months beyond your loss
- Feel ready to support other dads in a structured way
- Are comfortable sharing your lived experience
- Value the dad-to-dad connection and understanding
“I didn’t have all the answers. I just knew what it felt like to sit in that grief, and sometimes that’s the most powerful thing you can offer someone.” Red Nose Peer Supporter — bereaved parent and volunteer
What to expect? Structured, supported and never alone
Thorough training: Five online evening sessions give you the skills, confidence and context to support callers well.
Ongoing support: You’ll never work alone. Red Nose provides supervision, check-ins and a community of fellow volunteers.
Flexible shifts: Choose shift times that fit your life. The Bereaved Dads’ role uses pre-scheduled appointments for added flexibility.
From home: All support calls are conducted by phone. No travel required — volunteer from wherever you’re comfortable.
Meaningful commitment: We ask for 1 shift per fortnight over a minimum of 12 months — enough to make a real difference.
Clearances covered: Red Nose assists with Police Clearance and Working With Children Check, and covers costs once accepted into training.
Training commences in August 2026
All five sessions are delivered online in the evening, so you can participate from home. Attendance at all sessions is important; they’re designed to build on each other and ensure you feel fully prepared and supported as you begin.
