Supporting Diverse Families: Resources for Healthcare Professionals

Supporting Diverse Families Through Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Culturally sensitive care for every family

When a baby or child dies, every family deserves support that is not only compassionate but also culturally safe and respectful.

At Red Nose, we have been walking alongside grieving families for nearly 50 years. In that time, we’ve heard from many young mums, First Nations families, refugee and migrant communities, and families in rural and remote areas — and the message is clear: meaningful support must reflect each family’s culture, context, and lived experience.

That’s why we’ve developed tailored resources — created with communities, not just for them — to guide healthcare professionals in delivering truly sensitive and inclusive care.

Culturally Sensitive Care: Video Series for Health Professionals

Informed by extensive community consultation, this 7-part video series provides practical guidance for frontline health and maternity workers supporting families after pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or neonatal death.

Each short video focuses on a specific community group or key aspect of care. Read more about each topic by clicking the page link below, or scroll down to watch the complete video series.

These videos aim to build confidence, empathy, and cultural competence in healthcare settings.
