Australians Get REDDY to Help Save Babies Lives Red Nose Day 26 June 2015

SIDS and Kids is urging all Australians to help save babies lives by supporting Red Nose Day on Friday 26 June.

Nine children under the age of four die suddenly and unexpectedly every day in Australia from causes including sleeping accidents, drowning, motor vehicle accidents, sudden onset illness, SIDS and stillbirth.

Now in its 28th year, funds raised on Red Nose Day enable SIDS and Kids to save the lives of babies and children during pregnancy, birth, infancy and childhood and to support bereaved families.

Supporters can get involved by purchasing a Red Nose, any Red Nose Day product, making a donation or by setting up their own Everyday Hero fundraising account. Visit to find out more.

This year schools are also being encouraged to show their support for Red Nose Day by signing up to the new schools program. The program provides information for teachers to share with students on the cause behind Red Nose Day and importance of getting involved, plus fun activities and fundraising ideas.

Child Care Centres and Kindergartens also have the opportunity to sign up and host their own Red Nose Day event, through the introduction of the Little Rockers Red Nose Disco. A first of its kind, this fundraising event enables Child Care Centres to not only put on their dancing shoes, but their red noses as well and host their own disco event within their centre on Red Nose Day.

SIDS and Kids Australia CEO Associate Professor Leanne Raven says there are still so many Australians who go through the heartbreak of losing a baby or child;

“Since 1988, we have helped thousands of Australians through the unimaginable grief of the death of a baby or child. For every one baby or child that dies, more than 60 people may be impacted and require counselling and support,” Associate Professor Raven said.
