More than 70 people hit the water at Southport early last Sunday morning for the first ever Red Nose Jet Ski Ride fundraising event.
Rebel FM hosts and event coordinators Ash & Jake kicked things off with a welcome speech before inviting Mandy Brown, the Australian Jet Ski Association president and event organiser, up to say a few words regarding how the event came about.
The riders Jet Skied to South Stradbroke Island and then to Manly where the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club provided a delicious lunch. This was followed by a raffle of prizes donated by sponsors before the riders returned to the water to head back to Southport.
Good weather and good fun was the theme of the day, with some dressing up as their favourite superhero and the owner and dog combo of ‘Tex and Bundi’ joined the ride.
There was a real sense of community surrounding the day and, with the event being sold out, it was an incredible success for what was the first run at an event of this kind.
