Understanding the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights
At Red Nose, we are here to support you and your family after a loss of a pregnancy, stillbirth, infant or child death . To make sure you get the best care, we follow the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights. This Charter explains the basic rights everyone should have when accessing healthcare services in Australia. These include the right to be treated with respect, to have your privacy protected, to receive safe care, and to be fully informed about your options. It’s all about ensuring you feel safe, valued, and heard.
Red Nose is committed to upholding these rights in everything we do. This means making our services easy to access, listening to your feedback, and respecting your individual needs and choices. We want to make sure you feel supported and confident in the care you receive. If you have any questions or need more information about the Charter or your rights, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can ensure you receive the care and respect you deserve.
As a community services organisation working in the broad healthcare space, Red Nose has adopted the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights to guide the way we deliver our services and to assist you to understand your rights when accessing services from Red Nose.
The Charter was developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare through consultation with people across Australia.
You can download the English language version of the Charter here or the simple English Version here.
The Charter is also available translated in 28 additional languages here and a Braille version can be accessed by contacting the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
