What will I need?
- Red wool or yarn
- Red ribbon
- Scissors
- Red Nose pom-pom template - click to download here
- Cardboard (thicker the better)
- Glue stick
- Optional: Hot glue, googly eyes, felt and coloured paper to decorate
Steps to create
Step 1
Print the number of pom-pom templates required for your activity onto A4 paper.
Step 2
Stick a pom-pom template onto heavy-duty cardboard, cut along the edges until you have a cardboard pompom maker.

Step 3
Wrap your wool or yarn around and around and around and around the pom-pom maker to make a big woollen blob, making sure to leave enough space to thread your ribbon through the centre of the pompom maker (around the woollen blob) in the next step.
Tip: the more wool you use, the plumper your bauble will be.

Step 4
While the wool is wrapped around the cardboard pom-pom maker, cut a piece of ribbon 40cm long and tie a tight knot around the middle of your woollen blob.

Step 5
Slide your woollen blob off the pom-pom maker, wrap the end of the ribbon around the middle again and tie another tight knot.

Step 6
Use your scissors to cut the looped ends of your woollen blob. Your pom-pom will look shaggy and uneven so give it a good trim until you have a round fluffy pom-pom. Make sure not to cut your ribbon.

Step 7
Tie a knot in the top of your ribbon, making a loop to hang your decoration.

Step 8
Optional: using hot glue, decorate your pom-pom with googly eyes and felt to make a holiday creature.
