Cathy

After reading the information regarding transitional toys over 7m of age eg soft toys……what kind of soft toys specifically would be appropriate to use? What size would be considered small and what type of fabrics etc? Are the small comforter blankies appropriate and if so does it need to be made from muslin cloth? Jelly cat bunnies are ver popular but are they acceptable? Sorry about all these questions…childcare worker here so I have seen parents giving children a variety of comforters

Red Nose Education

Red Nose does not recommend any specific type of soft toy/comforter, but provides the following information.
Ensure baby/toddlers head & face remains uncovered.
Keep the cot free of large soft toys, pillows, bumpers, activity centres and anything else that could be ‘stacked’ to assist a young child/toddler to climb out of the cot.

It is important not to use a soft toy/comforter that is large &/or may cover baby’s face or with objects (like beads) attached to it which may become loose or products that have small batteries in them that a child may swallow or choke on.
Also, ensure there are no strings or cords that may wrap around baby’s neck, creating a risk for strangulation.
