What can I do to sleep my baby safely?

My 8 week old has just started to move towards one side of the bassinet while sleeping, so that he ends up in a more diagonal position. His face is getting close to the mesh sides, and from reading previous questions here, it appears that moving to a cot (unswaddled) is recommended. His cot won’t fit in our room, would a compact cot be safe or would he need the full size cot for safe movement? He is a large baby (97th percentile) and is likely to outgrow bassinet soon regardless. Thank you

3.5 month old baby has started rolling into side, we have always used an ergo sleep bag (arms in) and a bubba blue tuck sheet Now her arms are out and tuck sheet removed we have had a hard time putting her back down after nightly feeds as she lifts her legs and flails her arms restlessly Is it ok to still use bubba blue tuck sheet to help keep her lower body secured to prevent restlessness, If not should she grow out of pulling her legs up and walking them back down? Thankyou

My baby is 5 months and is able to roll back to front and front to back (only rolling awake l, has not rolled in sleep yet). The cot is too big to fit in our bedroom and I don't feel comfortable just yet to have baby sleeping in their own room. Because of this I have had them in the portacot for the past 2 weeks (since they mastered rolling). My plan is to move them into the cot in their own room as soon as they roll in their sleep. Is it safe that I am currently allowing them to sleep in the portacot at night? Or should I move them to the cot now?

I have my baby in a singlet, onesie and 3.5 tog overnight (room is about 17-18degrees) but she still seems cold and moves all over the cot and has started waking at 5am. Is it safe to put a cotton blanket over the top if tightly tucked in and not too high?

Hi there, My 4month old has started rolling onto her stomach often and rolls confidently from side to side but has shown no interest really yet in rolling from her stomach onto her back. She is sleeping in her own cot in our room now, and has wears a baby sleep sack with her arms free for sleep. She also wears an owlet sock monitor each night for sleeping. We always put her down to sleep on her back but she has now started rolling onto her side frequently at night and really resists sleeping on her back. No matter how often we try to reposition her she rolls straight back onto her side or becomes upset at being moved, and sometimes resists and pushes against us when we try to move her onto her back. Do you have any advice on what to do in this circumstance? I read through your website and noticed the advice is to reposition babies back onto their back if they can’t roll from tummy to back yet but this doesn’t seem to be working for us. Do we have enough precautions in place to leave her to sleep on her side? How high are the risks of SUID for side sleeping? We are also doing loads of tummy time and rolling practice to help her learn to roll stomach to back but it’s a work in progress.

Are you able to provide guidance on whether particular brands of beds are safe for a 2 year old? For example, IKEAS Sandvik (Ext bed frame with slatted bed base, 91×190 cm] or IKEAs SNIGLAR [Bed frame with slatted bed base, 70×160 cm]? I have read the booklet on safe sleep but am looking for some more more guidance before purchasing.

Red Nose says... "REMEMBER: it is important to transfer baby from a bassinet to a cot as soon as they show signs that they might start rolling soon." I cant find an explanation as to why, can you please advise the reasoning behind this statement. Thank you

I was recently given a 4.5tog Marino wool sleeping bag for my 4 month old baby. Is this too hot for my baby and is there a maximum tog rating to use with a baby? My house usually gets down to 15-18C overnight.

My baby is nearly 10 weeks old. We currently swaddle her for sleep in her bassinet and follow safe sleep guidelines. Recently (in the past week) she has been managing to get her arms out of the swaddle, no matter how tight I swaddle her (not to the point that it’s so tight it affects her breathing). I only notice her arms out when I wake up, they are in the swaddle when she goes to sleep. Is it time to consider a sleep suit so her arms can be out for sleep? Thanks!

Hi, where can I buy a Pepi-Pod from in Australia? Baby hates sleeping in a bassinet and I don't want to use a baby lounger for sleep as they're not safe for that purpose.

Hi, how do I know what mattresses are considered safe for toddlers 2 years old and above? Is there a firmness or safety standard they must meet? Does it still need to be firm or is an adult mattress low to the ground ok? And if firmness is still something to consider, how firm? For example furniture stores labelling mattresses as 'firm', 'medium firm', 'medium' etc. We have a spare adult mattress however I believe this doesn't pass the CD stacker test that you can use to test cot mattresses, however does it even need to pass that test for 2 years and up? Thank you.
