Can I use a cot for my newborn? I was originally looking at bassinets but after reading the guidelines I understand that a cot is safer. Just checking the baby can sleep in a cot right from birth? Why do bassinets even exist if you can go straight to a cot and bassinets don’t need to comply with any standards?

While there are no standards for bassinets Product Safey Australia has information (Buying Tips) on what to look for if wanting to use a bassinet.
