From a Childcare perspective, for children over 12 months old. If they come in with a comforter for sleep time such as a soft teddy or little blanky, should we be removing these from the sleep space once the child has fallen asleep or are they okay to stay in the sleep space as they are used as a child's comfort? thank you

Red Nose Education

Red Nose has the following information about soft toys/comforters
https://rednose.org.au/article/soft-toys-and-comforters
Consider safety/appropriateness of specific comforters sent from home. eg is baby at risk of head & face covering with this product. Are there loose objects on comforter that could be loose & increase choking risk?

ACECQA
“Soft toys and comforters should not be placed in the sleep space with infants.”

Red Nose has no information about removing the soft toy, comforter once they are asleep - check with ACECQA or your State Regulator if it is a requirement from them.
