Maddy

Hello, My baby is just started rolling from both her back to front and front to back. Unfortunately this milestone has also coincided with her learning to suck her thumb. I currently have been sleeping her in a sleeping bag with her arms out, however I have been putting her hands into her built in mittens in the bonds wondersuit to stop her sucking her thumb to sleep. Is this a safe sleeping practice now that she is starting to roll or should I be leaving her hand out?

Red Nose Education

There is no risk to baby of having her hands covered, as long as she is not sucking on the mittens & the fabric starts to deteriorate.
Red Nose recommends the following when baby is rolling & sleeping on tummy.
Ensure cot mattress is firm & that there is nothing loose or soft in the cot
Use a sleep bag with arms out - ie cease swaddling.
Do not use sleep positioners to keep baby in any one position.
Always place baby on back for sleep.
