Karla

Hello, My baby is nearly 5months and is able to roll from back to her tummy. Recently she has been rolling over to her tummy to sleep at night. I kept turning her but she just keeps getting back to the same position (sleeping on her tummy) . Any advice? She still cannot roll from tummy to back.

Red Nose Education

Most babies will be rolling over by 4- 5 months.
This is very normal as babies grow & become stronger.
Many babies then prefer to sleep on their side or tummy.
This is not something that needs to be stopped. It is important to make the “new” environment as safe as possible.

As your baby is rolling, continue to place her on her back for sleep

Have you ceased swaddling/wrapping her?
Does she sleep in a cot not a bassinet?
Babies need arms free & the space of a cot to roll well.

How does she go with tummy time when awake?
Does she hold her head well & reach for toys?
When you see her during the night or in the morning does she appear to have changed her position?
