Hello, We have a two storey house and are expecting our first baby shortly. We are wondering what to do for our baby's sleeping arrangements as there is no bedrooms downstairs. We have a cot and bassinet upstairs but dont want be taking the bassinet up and downstairs. We were wondering what would be safe for for the baby to sleep in downstairs?

Red Nose Education

Red Nose recommends that baby sleep in a cot or portacot that meets mandatory Australian standards for all sleeps.

While there are no Mandatory Standards for bassinets, they can be a suitable alternative if the following guidelines are used.

Room sharing reduces the risk of sudden infant death and sleeping accidents during day-time and night-time sleeps. The safest place to sleep a baby is in their own safe sleeping place in the same room as an adult care-giver.
