Chyenne

Hi, I hope you’re well. We have a 6 month old son. We live on the Gold Coast and currently we are experiencing extreme heat waves with temperatures up to 36-38 degrees. Our son’s room is sitting at 28 degrees plus. We only have a ceiling fan, dressing him in a 0.2 tog and a light bonds singlet. Is this ok? I’m extremely stressed about him as he runs hot generally and hates the heat. Thank you

Red Nose Education

There is no exact bedding or clothing amount that is recommended for each individual baby.
It is difficult to be specific as to what exact clothing/bedding a baby uses, but you are correct in dressing him according to the room temperature.
Have a read of the article linked below…...it also helps to check to see if baby is too hot (or too cold)
https://rednose.org.au/article/what-is-a-safe-room-temperature-for-sleeping-baby

Red Nose general recommendation is to dress baby to the room temperature & to remove (or add in cold weather) any extra clothing/bedding.
Red Nose does not recommend a specific room temperature for baby.
Sometime baby needs only a nappy & singlet.

Is he now sleeping in a cot?
Is he rolling?
Is he sleeping ok?
