Najia

Hi, my baby is 7 months 20 days old. He can roll, crawl, sit and pull to stand. I have transferred him into his nursery. Previously we were co sleeping in same room but he used to be in his cot. I have also transitioned him from a sleeping pouch to sleeping bag so he can get used to his hands out of the pouch. My concern is he always roll over and sleep on his tummy. I turn him on his back 4-5 times during the night which wakes him up most of the time and I don’t feel good about disturbing him from his sleep. Is it okay for him to sleep on his tummy or shall I continue to rolling him on back every time during the night?

Red Nose Education

Most babies will be rolling over by 4- 5 months. Some earlier, some later.
This is very normal as babies grow & become stronger.
Many babies then prefer to sleep on their side or tummy.
This is not something that needs to be stopped. It is important to make his new environment as safe as possible.

Have a read of the article linked above,
Continue to place him on his back for sleep & allow him to find his position of comfort.
Babies need arms free & the space of a cot to roll well.
Ensure the cot mattress is firm & that there is no loose/soft bedding.
