Rashida

Hi Need guidance here. Red nose says that cot should be labelled with Australian standard compliant sticker. Unfortunately we are unable to find cots with this sticker . We just got cot labelled with warning and mattress details. But product details on website says it is as per Australian standard. So how as a Family day care service we comply with the sticker issue that is mostly products do not have e.g Anko, Boori ,Mocka. Educator buy things from market place and cots and toys are in near new condition. How we can ensure that product is as er Australian standard as there is no sticker labelling Australian standard 2172. Your response will be very helpful for us.

Red Nose Education

Red Nose information about cot Safety Standards information states the following:
“All new, second-hand cots and portable cots sold in Australia must meet the current Australian and New Zealand Standard for Cots (AS/NZS 2172:2003) and will carry a label to say so.
** Look for the label on the cot, instructions or packaging

If you can’t find the label in any of these areas, check the information on-line for each specific cot, or with the Manager &/or information services of the company.
**It is important that all staff keep any information about the specific cot containing any information about meeting Standards till the cot is no longer being used.

All Safety Standards are developed & monitored by Product Safety Australia (ACCC)
