Hi there, I'm after some advice regarding floor beds. There are many available in a "house frame" shape with fixed timber rails on the sides. I found information regarding temporary bedrails but I'm unsure of fixed rails. We would like to use a floorbed for our daughter but the configuration and size of her room won't allow us to put the bed away from every wall. Will the fixed, wooden rails be considered as safe as a cot or is there still a risk of entrapment between the wall and bed? Thanks so much.

Red Nose Education

Have you thought about using a toddler bed with the mattress in solid sides rails rather than using a floor mattress?
There is a risk of entrapment between the wall & mattress in some situations.
If you are using rails, ensure the space is small enough so child can’t become entrapped in between rails.

Make sure there are no spaces between bars or panels bigger than 95mm. Bigger gaps can cause a young child to become trapped.

Before placing your child to bed check that the portable bed rails fit tightly against the side of the mattress and there are no gaps between the mattress and the bed rail. This will help prevent a child’s body or head slipping through and becoming trapped.
