Hi there, my 9 week old keeps wriggling to the top of his bassinet and sometimes even sideways. He comes out of the tight sheet at the bottom of the bassinet also. He is in an ergo pouch cocoon at the moment. Is this normal? Should I try one arm out?

Red Nose Education

Congratulations on your new family member! It sounds like he is very mobile, and we know that can be stressful for parents. The important things are to ensure that bub is being slept on a firm flat mattress, and that there is no loose or soft bedding or padding that could cover his mouth or nose as he moves around. It is also important to have arms out before bub can roll. While most babies do this starting around three to four month of age, you may find he hits this milestone early if he is really wriggly! If he does look like rolling, also remember to move him from a bassinet to a household cot which is the safest option for rolling bubs. We hope this helps!
