Hi there, My little one has just moved into the cot, but wakes a few times through the night due to a dummy that has fallen out of the cot. Would an airwrap/bumper be safe to use on the outside of the cot to stop the dummy from falling out? Thank you.

Hi Rebecca,

My little one has just moved into the cot, but wakes a few times through the night due to a dummy that has fallen out of the cot.
Would an airwrap/bumper be safe to use on the outside of the cot to stop the dummy from falling out?

How old is your baby?

Red Nose does not recommend the use of bumpers, partic if they are padded & it is around the time baby is starting to roll.
Do not use cot bumpers or soft bedding as these have been associated with fatal sleep accidents.

It is important to follow manufacturers instructions when fitting products like you describe.
There have been some concerns expressed about the risk of entrapment, if the product is not used or fitted correctly. of mesh bumpers.
Some of the manufacturers will not guarantee the safety of their product if it is not fitted correctly.
Many of these products do not carry mandatory safety standards in relation to infant sleep safety.
