I bedshare with my baby, she is now 1yr. Is it safe for her to sleep beside a wall now she's older, as I will be travelling with her. Also are the blow up bed rails safe to use?
Red Nose Education
Red Nose has information about risks for a baby when moving from a cot to a bed. This usually occurs when baby is attempting to climb from the cot (usually between 2-3yo but as early as 18mths.)
The risks highlighted in the Cot to Bed brochure are also relevant to your 12mth old baby.
Have a look at the cot to bed brochure linked below in particular:
Making your home (or where ever you are) safe
Floor mattress (refers to “young children” not specifically babies mess than 12 months.
“Ensure the mattress is positioned away from the walls as young children can become trapped between the mattress and wall.
A child’s mattress needs to be firm to prevent fatal sleep accidents”
Portable bed rails

Blow up bed rails (or mattresses) are not usually recommended for young children as they are not firm & may pose a risk for suffocation is some situations.
Is it possible to travel with a portable cot or hire a household cot from accommodation site (eg hotel)
The other option would be to continue bed sharing?
