Dayna

I was advised by my maternal health nurse that I should start moving my 2 month old into his crib in the nursery for day naps in order for him to get accustomed to the space, but I felt that this reccomendation didn't align with SIDS Safe Sleeping Guidelines. Is it safe to move my baby into his own room and monitor with a baby monitor during the day, or should I keep putting him down for his day naps in the main room of the house so I can monitor him more closely? Thankyou in advance.

Red Nose Education

Red Nose recommends sleeping baby in a cot from birth.
However, many parents will use a bassinet from birth, most of which are fine for first few months.
Once baby looks like rolling, they need to be transferred to a cot & swaddling/wrapping ceased.

Red Nose also recommends room sharing for the first 6 to 12 months.

Where is your baby sleeping now during day & night?
Is he in a cot or bassinet?
Are you wrapping/swaddling him?
I’m not sure why the Nurse has recommended to move him to his cot in his own room for day time sleeps “to get accustomed to it”.
