Amy

Is there a height recommendation for babies in cots? My 10 month old is over 85cm and although the cot is on the lowest setting, she is quite tall. I worry she will tip out.

Red Nose Education

Red Nose recommends to always use a cot that meets Mandatory Australian Standards (AS/NZS: 2172)
Within those standards, developed by Product Safety Australia (ACCC) are a number of regulations.
These including ensuring that the height of the sides from mattress top is at least 500mm high.
These measurements are all based on age & development of baby & safety.

Does she look like she may fall from cot?
Is your daughter attempting to climb from cot?
Most children do not transfer from a cot to bed till about 2-3years old, or as young as 18mths, as most will be attempting to climb by then.
This is the time to consider moving from a cot to bed. However, if a baby does attempt to climb out before then, then a transfer to floor bed may need to be considered.

Average height of a baby at 18mths is about 80+cms (similar to your daughter,) but most 18mth old are still ok in a cot, unless climbing.
The recommendations for cot use is related to age/physical capability (ie climbing from cot) rather than the risk of baby falling out.
However, if you are concerned, it may be appropriate to consider a floor bed rather than a cot.
