Is this dockatot product safe to use? Hoping it will help to transition our baby to sleep in her bassinet. Thank you https://dockatot.com.au

Red Nose Education

Red Nose recommends that the safest place to sleep baby is in a cot that meets the Mandatory Australian Standards. Cots & Portable Cots are the only products designed for sleeping baby, that have Mandatory Standards from Product Safety Australia.

It is important that baby sleeps on a firm, well-fitting & flat, not elevated, base with no soft, padded sides.
Ensure there is no soft bedding in baby’s sleep environment.
Soft bedding (pillows, doonas, loose bedding or fabric, lambswool, bumpers or soft toys) are unnecessary and may cover baby’s face and obstruct baby’s breathing
Most baby nests, like the product you describe, have soft padded sides that may also pose a risk to baby.

Many products on the market today do not promote a firm or a flat surface. There is a risk to baby of being placed to sleep in an elevated position that may facilitate baby’s neck being flexed forward to the “chin on chest” position.
Also portable sleep surfaces, like the one you describe, do not have Mandatory Australian Standards for infant sleep.
