My 15 week old son has eczema on his head and body and has been wearing bamboo bubby cardigan mitts to bed which has successfully stopped the damage he was causing by scratching and waking himself up in the night. He has just started rolling to his side in his sleep and sometimes covers his mouth and occasionally nose to suck on the silk mitts. Is it okay for him to still wear it to sleep and would he move his arm away from his face himself during sleep if it was affecting breathing?

Red Nose Education

It is important to weigh up the risks here.
Now that your son is rolling, it is unlikely that he will keep his face covered with the mittens, any more than he would cover his face with his hands (uncovered)
However, many babies will enjoy sucking their fingers when settling.
As his eczema improves, it may not be necessary to continue to use the mitts.
