Jordy

My 5 month old is rolling ALOT both ways and wriggles around in his cot in his sleep changing positions. A few time now he has woken up crying due to getting his leg or arm stuck between the cot bars. I would like to buy an air wrap (mesh not padded) to prevent this from happening, is this a SIDS risk? Thank you

Red Nose Education

Red Nose does not recommend the use of any bumpers in and around the cot. Red Nose does not have any research to indicate that babies suffer any serious or long term injury for bumping up against cot bars.
Some families might consider sleeping their baby in a baby safe sleeping bag to help keep legs from sticking through cot bars. For further information please see https://rednose.org.au/article/at-what-age-can-i-introduce-cot-bumpers-and-pillows
