Alana

Our daughter has clubfoot and currently sleeps with her boots & bars on at night time. Just wondering if there are any articles or information about safe sleeping for clubfoot babies with their boots & bars.

It is always important to follow up with the Health Professionals who are caring for your baby as well. They may have some ideas about safelty for sleep when wearing things like “boots & bars”

At 6 mths of age, baby is beyond the high-risk period as 90% sudden infant deaths (SUDI) occur before 6mths of age.
The fact that she has rolled both ways (altho not regularly) indicates she is capable of doing both.
Don’t forget to continue with tummy time when awake.

Seems like she is managing reasonably well. I assume by now she is able to lift her head & look around when awake.
Many babies have difficulty with rolling in the beginning, but soon learn to roll well.
Some babies will prefer to sleep on tummy or side, but others will stay on back.

This is why it is important to ensure baby’s environment continues to reflect safe sleeping recommendations ie when rolling baby needs the following:
Space of the cot
Arms free (no swaddles)
Firm, well fitting & flat mattress
Nothing loose or soft in the cot.
Continue to place baby on back for sleep.

There does not appear to be specific information in relation to safe sleeping, altho’ RCH in Melbourne has a general Fact Sheet.
Is this the same type of information you have been provided with?
