Red Nose CEO, Keren Ludski, is delighted Moira’s outstanding commitment in providing bereavement support and helping parents and families navigate the complexities of grief and loss of their child, has been recognised for the community awards.

“Today we celebrate Moira’s exemplary dedication to supporting individuals and families experiencing grief. Not only has she been recognised by the many people she has helped, but also by her colleagues at Red Nose and the NSW Hunter community,” Keren said.

“Moira’s intuitive approach ensures the best care possible, helping families begin the process of integrating their grief within a warm, compassionate and safe environment.

“From Newcastle to the Hunter Valley and reaching to the NSW central coast, Moira has provided bereavement support to hundreds of bereaved families throughout her 15 years at Red Nose,” Keren said.

As one of 126 finalists across the 42 Westfield Centres in Australia and New Zealand, and one of three finalists at Westfield Kotara, Moira has nominated the $5,000 grant to go toward establishing the Hunter Memorial Gardens for bereaved families.

“I’m honoured and humbled by the many people who voted for me in the community awards. My passion and purpose to support families during one of the worst times of their lives is what inspired me to put the grant toward building a memorial garden,” Moira said.

“The garden will be a much-needed community space for bereaved parents, their families and anyone affected by the loss of a baby or child. The space will be for them to peacefully remember the little life lost,” Moira said.

The Westfield Local Heroes award is a recognition and rewards program that shines the spotlight on individuals in Australia and New Zealand who make a positive impact to their local community or environment.
