What can I do to sleep my baby safely?

My 5 month/ nearly 6 month old confidently rolls from her back to her tummy, but not from her tummy to her back. She is getting to big for her bassinet so looking to move her into her own room and cot, but worried that she can’t roll back. She sleeps in her cot during the day and rolls to her side and tummy, and will cry or wake up when she can’t get back onto her back. I am also worried she’ll get stuck face down during the night as I won’t be able to watch like I do during the day. She can lift her head up if needed, but have seen her during the day sleep with her face turned into the mattress?

I've been given a cocoonababy nest as a gift. I've gone onto their website and they do say it's not SIDS approved, but I wanted to see what your thoughts were about sleeping a baby in it during the day under supervision. The instructions say to only use the cacoonababy nest in the first few weeks, before baby shows any signs of rolling or attempting to roll. Can you help me with any advice as to whether this product is safe? Thank you so much

Have a portable cot that is in excellent condition the same goes for the mattress as hardly every used but it is 29 years old. Will it be safety enough for my 6 month old Granddaughter to sleep in when visiting us. Thanks

Hi! In preparation for our new baby we purchased a Breathe Eze Cosy Crib with Sleep positioner. On the packaging it says "reduce the risk of SIDS" which was a big plus for us. If I was able to upload a photo I would so you could verify the product. My questions are : a. Is this safe for baby to sleep in? We have been using it but now are wondering whether we are doing the right thing. b. Is laying baby flat on their back after feeding increasing the risk of vomiting or other digestive issues after feeding ? I really appreciate your help. Kind regards Larissa

Hi there, my son is just over 4 months old and he has started snuggling a thin muslin comforter at bedtime. I know recommendations state not to have anything soft/extra in the cot but is it ok to let him sleep with it if it is breathable and he has good neck strength?

Hello, I am a director of a Family Day Care Service. We are currently implementing the updated standard for porta cots (of how they are only to be used short term) and replacing them all with permanent cots in all of our Educator homes. My question is, when is a baby considered to be old enough to move out of the cot and sleep on a mattress on the floor with other children in care?

I have read the Red Nose advice on principles for safe wrapping, which contains the following statement: “The material of the wrap or swaddle should not cover the face or head, particular if baby sleeps with arms in different positions. If the item is too big for the baby, some zipped swaddle suits that enclose baby’s hands, have been shown to allow material to cover baby’s face and nose when baby raises their hands above their head during sleep. All sleeping attire designed to cover the baby’s shoulders should have separate neck and arm holes or should ensure that they do not allow the face covering if the baby was to move their arms in different positions.” I am unclear on whether this advice is recommending that parents should make sure any infant sleeping bag has separate arm and neck holes, or whether the guidance is just recommending that parents should ensure that any sleeping bag without separate arm and neck holes fits properly around the neck and arms. As you will know, there are very popular products (like Love to Dream) with combined arm and neck holes so I want to clarify what the guidance is on these Thank you

We have been given a pram which does not recline all the way flat. Is it still safe to have a new born there? I haven't come across any concrete advise. thanks

Hi there, I'm about to transition my son from his cot to a toddler bed/single mattress on the floor and I was wondering what type of bedding I should be using? Do I use sheets and a doona now? He has only ever been in a sleeping bag in his cot with nothing else in the cot. He is only 18 months yet starting to climb so I need to transition him out of the cot. Thank you in advance, Tegan

Hi there, my son is 9 months old and uses a comforter to sleep his grown quite attached to it. Can childcare’s allow older babies to use them in the cots for sleeps. It’s a teddy with a tummy attached.
