Red Nose Education

It is not unusual for babies, like your son at 7 months of age, to hit the sides or get limbs stuck in the slats of the cot, at times, especially when they are “new to rolling”. Most stop doing this.

The air mesh wrap is unlikely to provide any protection for baby hitting the sides of the cot.
Red Nose does not recommend the use of soft padded bumpers.

Soft bedding accessories, like pillows, bumpers, or sleep positioners should not be introduced until your child is out of a cot and into a bed, even if they are marketed as being suitable for a cot.

Soft bedding is dangerous in a cot and should not be used. Soft bedding includes pillows, quilts, doonas, soft toys and bumpers. Soft bedding may cover the baby’s face and obstruct breathing and/or cause overheating.

Red Nose has the following information about baby products in general

It is important for parents when they are thinking of buying a product for their baby to be able to make the best informed decision based on evidence of product safety. This is crucial for preventing SUDI or other fatal sleeping accidents.

It is often assumed that all nursery products sold in retail stores must be safe, however many products have never been formally tested so it can be difficult to tell what is safe for your child.
