Are the foam bumpers safe for a 2-year-old? We have migrated him out of cot into a double mattress on the floor. Currently doing a bit of co sleeping to help migrate but I am worried about him rolling off onto the timber floor. Everywhere i read bumpers are not safe, Do i need to go to a fully montassori rail type bed or can i get those foam bumpers you put under the fitted sheet ? thanks

Red Nose recommends that you transfer baby from a cot to a bed when they are showing signs of attempting to climb from the cot.
Have a look at our cot to bed information here:

Please note information about having multiple soft padded objects around or in sleep environment.
Are the foam bumpers you refer to like pool noodles?
Also, see information included above about the use of bed rails.

I would also like to know if foam bumpers, yes like pool noodles which are under the sheet to stop kids falling out are ok. My child is 4 yrs old.
Red Nose Education
Red Nose has no specific information in relation to using pool noodles as a barrier to prevent a child from rolling off a floor bed. That is not what they are designed for & I wonder about their effectiveness.
Has you child recently (or about to) move from a cot to a bed?
This is the information we provide when moving a child from a cot to a bed.
