Bill

Hi, Our 6 month old has been sleeping in a cot for a few months now in his room across the hall. The recommendations are that he sleeps in our room until 12 months old. Where does that recommendation come from, and how can we make his sleep environment safe considering that our room is too small too add in a cot of any size.

Red Nose Education

Red Nose recommends the following:
“Sleep baby in their own safe sleep space in the parent or caregiver’s room for the first 6 months”

The first 6 months is considered a “critical developmental period” for all babies in relation to safety in sleep to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI & SIDS)
