What is the Ritchies Community Benefit Program?
The Ritchies Community Benefit Program is one of Australia’s longest-running and most successful supermarket fundraising initiatives. Ritchies is the only IGA store that operates the Ritchies Card Program, making Ritchies IGA a powerful partner for community giving. When you nominate Red Nose as your chosen organisation, 0.5 per cent of your eligible spend is donated directly to Red Nose every month. There are no costs involved, no extra steps at checkout, and no impact on your shopping experience.
How Your Support Helps Red Nose
Funds raised through the Ritchies Community Benefit Program help Red Nose to deliver evidence based safer sleep education to families and early childhood educators, provide 24 hour bereavement support to families after the loss of a baby or child, advocate for nationally consistent safer sleep training and policy, invest in research to prevent sudden and unexplained deaths in infancy and childhood, and support families from diverse communities with culturally safe information and care. Every nomination helps Red Nose reach more families, prevent more deaths, and provide compassionate support when it is needed most.
How Easy Is It to Make a Difference?
It is quick, simple and easy to support Red Nose through Ritchies IGA. You can participate by using either the Ritchies App or a physical Ritchies Card. To use the Ritchies App, download the app, register and activate your account, nominate Red Nose as your chosen organisation, then shop as usual at any Ritchies IGA supermarket or liquor store. The app is fast to download and easy to use, with a QR code available on posters and flyers that links directly to the app. If you prefer a physical card, pick up a Ritchies Card from any Ritchies IGA store, register your card, and nominate Red Nose as your organisation. Once nominated, you can shop at any Ritchies IGA supermarket or liquor store across Victoria, New South Wales or Queensland and the benefit will still flow back to Red Nose.
How the Payments Work
To qualify for a monthly payment to Red Nose, a total of 2,000 dollars must be spent in one month by all supporters who nominate Red Nose. This can be achieved with as few as 10 people spending 50 dollars per week. Eligible spend excludes tobacco, gift cards and phone recharges.
Ritchies IGA supermarkets and liquor stores are located across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, making it easy for supporters to contribute to Red Nose no matter where they live. Once you have nominated Red Nose through the Ritchies App or by registering a Ritchies Card, you can shop at any Ritchies IGA store in these states and the benefit will still be directed back to Red Nose, even if the store is not in your local area. This means you can support Red Nose while travelling or shopping near work, friends and family in different states can nominate Red Nose and contribute, and all eligible spending is combined each month to help reach the 2,000 dollar minimum required for a payment. Ritchies provides a store listing so supporters can easily find their nearest Ritchies IGA location and plan their shop.
