Best practice care after stillbirth and neonatal death
Time: 6:30 pm-8 pm AEST
Where: Online via Zoom
Join us on Tuesday 17th September as a panel of experts, moderated by Prof Craig Pennell, Chair of NSAG present Best practice care after stillbirth and neonatal death.
Prof Adrienne Gordon will give an overview of the recent updates to the Care after Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Guidelines, which aim to improve care for parents and families who experience the tragedy of stillbirth or neonatal death.
Assoc Prof Fran Boyle will discuss Guiding Conversations, a parent resource that supports parents as they face the many difficult decisions that follow the loss of a baby. This resource is used across Australian maternity settings as part of the Red Nose and Stillbirth CRE suite of resources to support best practice care around perinatal loss.
We will also hear from Red Nose Advocacy Projects Specialist and HESTA Midwife of the Year, Skye Stewart (Wergaia/Wamba Wamba), who developed the resource guide Jiba Pepeny – Star Baby after seeing a gap in appropriate bereavement care for First Nations families. This resource supports First Nations families physical, emotional and cultural needs from the devastating news of first hearing that bub has passed away until 3 months post birth.
