Hi there - my 6.5 month old can only roll from back to tummy. As soon as I place her in the cot she immediately rolls on to her stomach. Is it safe for her to stay there throughout the night? Sometimes her face is half blocked by the mattress but obviously I can’t stay awake to monitor this. thank you, Kate

My question is about portacots, and more specifically a bassinet attachment that comes with it. I've popped the link below to the one we have. I want to know if it is safe to have a baby sleep in the bassinet attachment. I know there is no national safety standard when it comes to bassinets, but there is for portacots. We've read through the guidelines for keeping a bassinet as safe as possible (appropriate air flow, safe measurements, mattress that fits and doesn't have gaps etc) and it seems fine but safe sleep really is something that keeps me up at night. Hi, Just sending a quick email to find out more information in regards to safe sleeping practices in day care. I have been advised that natural sunlight is a requirement and a preventive measure to lower SIDS complications for children under the age of one years when sleeping. Can you confirm that this is true and if so, where I can obtain this information in writing? I have read the red nose child care kit and have not been able to find that particular information. I have also searched online on the ACEQA website and have found nothing pertaining to this particular requirement. Thanks, Tina.

I've purchased a new cot mattress for my second baby and it's smaller than the one I used for my first child in the same cot, despite being the manufacturer's recommended product. There's a 40mm gap between the mattress and cot end (and 30mm between mattress and cot side) when it's pushed to one end. This seems compliant with the Australian standard but your website states "Make sure there is no more than a 20mm gap between the mattress, the cot sides and the ends of the cot." Is it safer to use the well-fitting mattress my firstborn had (which was purchased new 3 years ago and used for almost all that time) or use the new mattress that's smaller? I feel like I have to choose between new and clean and too small, or well-fitting but used and perhaps less firm (because it's moulded to another baby's body). Advice would be much appreciated!

I have a very active sleeping baby, just turned 1 year old. She rolls, crawls and sits but not fully awake. When she sits up she sometimes just flops back down in an uncontrolled manner. I'm trying to find the safest way for her to sleep and struggling. I'm uncomfortable with her sleeping in the cot at the moment as it's either a hard surface or with mesh bumpers which don't provide a lot of protection and have the added risk, but I'd like to move her out of our bed as it's not ideal for her either. Any help or tips would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Hi, A midwife told us that The Love to dream swaddles with the wings were not considered safe as they can pose a risk of covering baby’s face. I just wanted to check if this is true or LTD winged suits are ok for baby sleeping. Thanks!

My 4wo is wriggling in her sleep and moves diagonal across the bassinet so her hand is against the mesh side. She is in a love to dream swaddle up with a blanket tucked tightly to her mid section. Is it too early to stop swaddling her and have her arms free? Is it safe to continue to move her back to the middle and keep her in the ltd in her bassinet? Thanks

Hi there I have just come home from a hospital visit as my little guy has a head cold and was told to elevate his cot. Any suggestion how I would do this. Do I buy a sleeping wedge and place under the mattress ??
