My 16 week old boy has just started rolling from back to front in his cot and last night fell asleep on his stomach. I was extremely anxious all night (after reading this section before bed I knew I had to leave him in that position) and ended up not sleeping much. A few times I noticed he would move his head so it was almost straight down- I would jump up and move to the side. I obviously can’t watch all every minute overnight, is there anything I can do to ensure he keeps his head to the side? He has good neck control and spends at least an hour a day on tummy with neck up and he continually rolls over from his back now.

At what age is it safe for children to transition out of a cot on to a flat mattress on the floor.

Hi. I have a 13 week old baby who has started rolling from stomach to back and is able to stay up on his stomach with his head held for a period of time. He has been doing this the past two days and is able to turn from his stomach back to his back. Last night he did this in his bassinet after being put to sleep on his back and started sleeping on his stomach with his head to the side. I have a boori bassinet that is quite large and has room for him to roll over completely, it also has breathable mesh walls and high sides. In consideration of SIDS, should we move him to a cot or is the bassinet suitable to accomdate him for longer. We want to continue room sharing till at least 6 months and thought of moving the cot in if possible yet the bassinet is more practicable. Please also advise if an owlet type monitor that monitors heartrate and breathing is suggested over a general video sound monitor? Thanks in advance for your advice. Zoe

Hello! I have a 7 week old baby who absolutely hates his bassinet/cot and will only sleep in our arms or in a cacoonababy. I understand the cacoonababy is not red nose approved for unsupervised sleep therefore we Do not want to use it at night but at the moment we have no other option to get our son to sleep at night. I’m hoping to make his bassinet/cot more alluring to him and someone mentioned that he might find the cold hard fitted sheets uncomfortable and might be waking him up every time we put him down. My mum mentioned that she used to be a short hair Sheep skin run under the bassinet sheet for warmth (obviously this is another time/generation pre sids knowledge) however I want to see if this is appropriate for us to do as we want to avoid co sleeping or other more risky sleeping practices but are running out of options Thanks so much!

Do you have any resources or advice around allowing a newborn to sleep on the chest of a parent? And around cannabis use whilst caring for a newborn? (Including breastfeeding) Thank you.

Our 6 wo is sleeping in his cosleeper next to us in our room. I’ve noticed the past two nights that he’s moved from the middle of the bassinet to one side. He is currently being swaddled with a. blanket up to his belly button but I’m wondering if this is a sign to move to a grow suit? He’s still the facing the same time way, just made his way to the side of the bassinet.

My 3.5m old started rolling at 3m, so he is in an arms out swaddle. He has just started rolling in his cot and sleeps on his belly. We always place him on his back in the cot, then he seems to roll and sleep on his belly, is it okay for him to sleep on his tummy??

Hello, My daughter is 3months old. I still have her sleeping in her bassinet in our room. When would you recommend putting her in her cot in her own room? Also would I put a nightlight on for her once she goes in the cot? I have a night light that changes colours. Is there a certain colour that helps a baby sleep better? Thank you so much! Bec
