I am enquiring on behalf of an early childhood setting. We have a child who is 10 months of age and the parents have requested they sleep with a comfort toy. Are there guidelines around what age it is safe to allow children to have soft toys in their cot? Thank you

Can my 12 week old sleep in a separate room for day naps if we use a monitor and sock monitor? She does have reflux but I monitor her regularly. It is so hard creating an environment conducive to sleep in a shared space with a toddler. It is affecting everyone.

Hi I am unsure how to dress baby when it is warmer at bed time and then cool from midnight or early am, especially when they sleep through the night and therefore doesn't get into a change of clothing. Some say baby should wear enough for the coldest time of the night. However, that would be too warm for when baby goes to bed. Therefore, I am confused on what to do. Eg. 25 degrees in the room around 7pm bedtime, and 19 degrees after 2 am.

Hi, my 6.5 month old will only sleep with his hands covered with the inbuilt onesies and has just started rolling both ways. Is there a safety concern if his hands remain covered should he roll in his sleep? I’ve attempted to have his hands free on multiple occasions but it appears to be too stimulating for him. How long can I have his hands covered for before it becomes a concern? Thanks

My 3 month old has grown out of his bassinet. I got a portacot with the bassinet attachment for temporary use until he’s ready for his room. I put a wool underlay and a fitted sheet on top to make it softer but I’m worried about how they’re supposed to be temporary. Is this ok? He also sleeps with a blanket tucked under the mattress and below his armpits and the portacot is wider so I’m nervous about that too.

Hi my 11 week old has started to roll on her side during sleep. She sleeps in her cot now and I’m concerned because she hasn’t learnt how to roll back. How do I stop her from rolling onto her face. What should I do ?

So I bought a bunch of stuff and now I’m unsure whether it’s safe or not. Are bedsheets ok if they are tucked in or is it better to just get a sleeping bag. Is any type of blanket a no go or is it just weighted blankets that are bad? I also got a canopy for the Stokke sleepi mini cot but now I’m thinking it might not be safe? I’m very confused, if you could shed some light. Thank you

Hi, We have a 14 month old who is attempting to climb out of the cot at home and the parents have asked us if we can place her on a stretcher bed while in care. Which I have no issues with. Management has advised us that we can place this bed in the cot room as we are continuing our checks and it will be ok. I am concerned that if this child wakes between our checks that they will attempt to climb the cots which is just putting her at risk again. I am happy to have her outside in our main room which isn’t ideal as there will be children playing etc Any advice or documentation that you might have or know of that I can pass onto my management, so that the right choice is made in regards to this child. Thank you!

My 6 week old baby is able to reposition himself onto his side from his back when he is in his sleep sack/swaddle. This seems too early to be really rolling, he also sleeps far better with his arms wrapped due to the startle reflex. Do I need to release his arms now?
