When Can I Sleep My Child in a Bunk Bed?

Bunk beds are raised off the ground and can consist of one or two beds. They are designed for adults or children and often come with a ladder. Bunk beds can be a useful option for smaller rooms.

Bunk beds are not a safe option for young children. It is recommended that only children over the age of 9 years should use the top bunk.

About 4,000 children under 15 years old are treated every year for bunk bed related injuries by hospital emergency departments or general practitioners.

If you are choosing to buy a bunk bed, make sure it is a safe bunk bed and the surrounding environment is free of potential hazards

“I found meeting people in real life who were going through a similar journey helped me greatly. It was so healing to be able to support one another, listen to and share our experiences without judgement or anyone feeling uncomfortable. Without a doubt the peer support I received through Red Nose immensely helped me mentally and emotionally during the times that I needed it the most”
