Immunisations and Your Baby

There are many health benefits for your child by being immunised against common diseases, including a lower risk of sudden infant death

Red Nose recommends immunisation for babies.

  • Immunisation is a safe way to protect your baby from disease.
  • The risk to your baby from having their vaccinations is much less than the risks to them should they catch these diseases.
  • Research shows being immunised does not increase the risk of infant death. In fact, the risk of sudden death is decreased for these children.
  • Infants should not be immunised if there are medical reasons not to. Your GP or paediatrician can give you advice if you believe your child is at risk from being immunised.

Speak with a GP or Family Health Nurse for further information about immunising babies.

“I found meeting people in real life who were going through a similar journey helped me greatly. It was so healing to be able to support one another, listen to and share our experiences without judgement or anyone feeling uncomfortable. Without a doubt the peer support I received through Red Nose immensely helped me mentally and emotionally during the times that I needed it the most”
